Hearthstone adding Demon Hunter, its first-ever new class

Storms in next month.

For the first time since launch, Hearthstone will add a new class to the game: Demon Hunter. Fronted by hero Illidan Stormrage, the class will come to Hearthstone as part of its next expansion, Ashes of Outland.

This expansion, the first in Hearthstone's new Year of the Phoenix, goes live on 7th April. But you'll be able to try out the Demon Hunter class and learn the ropes via a free prologue campaign, available 2nd April. Here's how Stormrage looks in action:

All players will get the Demon Hunter class and its selection of 30 standard cards free, along with a starter deck to get yourself up and running against the forces of the Rusted Legion.

Ashes of Outland, as the name suggests, takes place in the world featured in World of Warcraft's Burning Crusade expansion. It adds 135 new cards.

As the name "Year of the Phoenix" seems to suggest, Blizzard is planning a year to shake-up and revitalise Hearthstone, with "a staggering array of features, updates and in-game events" promised, plus additions to its Battlegrounds mode and more free Solo Adventures.
