Guitar Hero guitars to work with Rock Band

Rock Band - the Harmonix rhythm-action game that brings together guitars, drums and vocals, announced on Monday - will be compatible with "Guitar Hero guitars", according to the developer.

"For some reason, IGN posted that Rock Band will not be compatible with Guitar Hero guitars," artist Jason Booth wrote on the game's official forum. "I thought I'd drop in and let you know that this is not correct."

When asked whether this meant there was nothing new planned for the game's guitar peripherals - lead and bass, remember - Booth added: "There is - but you'll have to wait to hear about that."

Rock Band, which is being put together in collaboration with MTV (who will be helping bring original master recordings to play) and publisher Electronic Arts, is due out this Christmas on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
