Good Friday WiiWare roundup

Three games to catch up on.

Last Friday's WiiWare update brought with its three new ways to rid yourself of Wii Points in the shape of Bubble Bobble Plus!, Equilibrio and Family & Friends Party.

Bubble Bobble Plus! is a mixture of old and new, offering 100 Standard Mode levels where Bub and Bob try to trap enemies in bubbles and pop them, while the new Arrange Mode has another 100 rounds, during which up to four players can take part.

These levels are filled out with new enemies and layouts, according to publisher Square Enix, and there's also a new Ranking Mode for popping scores on the internet. The base game costs 800 Wii Points (GBP 6 / EUR 8 approx), with Expert Mode 1 and 2 add-ons sold separately. Mmm.

Next up, Equilibrio from DK-Games is 500 Wii Points (GBP 3.50 / EUR 5) and the idea is to manoeuvre a ball to the exit using the Wiimote or balance board without allowing it to touch spikes, acid and other obstacles.

There are 64 levels to complete, with 25 "goals" to accomplish along the way to increase your progress percentage. Just like real life.

Finally, the more expensive Family & Friends Party from Gammick (1000 Wii Points, which is GBP 7 / EUR 10 / an arm and a leg) is a boardgame that sets different challenges - some for one player and some for more than one.

Let us know what you make of them. And if you'd prefer to peer bravely into the future, check out yesterday's roundup of upcoming WiiWare releases, including the likes of Cave Story, Swords & Soldiers and Bonsai Barber.
