Deep Silver and Piranha Bytes have signed top Hollywood talent to voice upcoming RPG Risen.

Andy Serkis (Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy) will join John Rhys Davies (Gimli in The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and Lena Headley (Sarah Connor in The Sarah Connor Chronicles) at the top of the list.

Complementing them is a strong British cast, which includes Simon Greenall (Michael in I'm Alan Partridge and that meerkat off the TV advert), Stuart Organ (Mr Robson in Grange Hill) and Donald McCorkindale (Mr Forbes in Grange Hill).

Burn Gorman (Owen Harper in Torchwood), Brendan Coyle (Robert Timmins in Lark Rise to Candleford) and Damian O'Hare (Dr Nick Burnett in The Royal) are in there too, as are less well-known speakers Louiza Patikas (The Archers) and Timothy Watson (various roles in East Enders, Casualty, Peak Practice).

Clearly Piranha Bytes wants things done properly.

Risen represents Piranha Bytes' break from Euro RPG super-series Gothic, so plenty of effort has been put in. The results of which we'll see when the game launches on 2nd October for PC and Xbox 360.

Or even sooner, if the FAQ-promised demo arrives in timely fashion.
