EA "would love" to publish Kingdoms of Amalur 2.

Speaking in the latest issue of US magazine Game Informer (via VideoGamer.com), EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said he hopes a sequel to the fantasy role-playing game will one day be made.

"I think it's unfortunate how everything worked out [for 38 Studios]," Gibeau said. "At the end of the day, we saw a lot of creativity and vision in the team that Curt [Schilling] put together. We thought the game was terrific. It reviewed well.

"We built a good business there and hope there's a sequel to it someday. We'd love to be a partner for that."

38 Studios, the production company responsible for Kingdoms of Amalur and MMO Copernicus, closed earlier this year. Owned developer Big Huge Games went with it, although many of those staff may now be hired to work at a new Epic Games studio in Baltimore.

Whether a sequel ever gets made remains to be seen. The Kingdoms of Amalur intellectual property rights are owned by the US state of Rhode Island, which is still in the process of trying to reclaim 38 Studio's huge government loan.
