Discs of Tron on XBLA this week

Thank you, Master Control.

Disney has said Discs of Tron will be on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday.

This retro remake has you duelling super villain Sark by throwing discs at him and trying to knock him off his platform of five concentric circles - a ring disappears if your opponent hits their target.

Bundle in some special manoeuvres and wacky weapons and it all gets a bit fiddly, with the difficulty increasing as you progress, naturally.

Included is the familiar enhanced graphics option sporting some high-definition cityscapes surrounding the player arena, as well as a bundle of multiplayer options: highest score wins, first to reach a score wins, co-operative combination of scores to top leaderboards, and simultaneous play where power-ups gained either help or hinder your friend.

Tron is an old film about a bloke who has his virtual world idea stolen and has to go into the program to defeat the villain. Jeff Bridges starred, and said things like, "On the other side of the screen, it all looks so easy."

Discs of Tron will cost 400 Microsoft Points (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.80).
