Destiny and Hearthstone have made nearly $1bn in revenue

Blizzard had its most popular Q1 ever.

Destiny and Hearthstone have made a combined total of nearly $1bn in revenue life-to-date, Activision announced in its latest earnings report.

Combined these two heavy hitters have over 50 million registered users and active Destiny players average around three hours a day playing Bungie's latest.

The smartphone release of Hearthstone on 14th April recently propelled the game's userbase to over 30 million.

Activision also noted that Call of Duty is increasing in popularity after 2013's game Ghosts saw a decline. In the quarter ending 31st March 2015, Call of Duty sales increased by double digit percentages year-over-year. Not bad for Sledgehammer's first crack at the popular franchise, though Ghosts had the odds stacked against it as it launched at a time when the market was strongly split between console generations.

Blizzard had a fine Q1 with its largest online community in history. It saw a double digit percentage increase in players over the same period last year, despite no major titles launching in the last few months. World of Warcraft subscribers declined to a still impressive 7.1 million at the end of the quarter, but Hearthstone more than made up the difference.

Heroes of the Storm also had 11 million beta sign-ups in January.
