Dark Sector in Jan '08

Pushed back for tweaking.

A spokesperson for D3 Publisher has confirmed that Dark Sector will be released in January 2008, both in Europe and the U.S.

It was previously expected towards the end of this year, and the extra time will let developer Digital Extremes apply more polish, the spokesperson told Eurogamer.

It follows comments made by the publisher to IGN that it was moved to avoid a busy Q4 release schedule.

Dark Sector is a shooter for PS3 and Xbox 360 that puts you in control of a chap called Hayden. After a nasty collision with a secret science experiment, he finds himself with a shiny metal arm and a bunch of new abilities.

Despite its somewhat generic appearance, it actually shares more in common with Zelda than more obviously similar games such as Gears of War. There are logical chain puzzles to break up the action, for instance, which require you to use your surroundings to overcome them. There's also more than one way to see off a bunch of no good low down dirty punks.

Rob Fahey went and canoodled with the the game recently, and was pleasantly surprised. Pop over to our Dark Sector preview for a closer look.
