Bulletstorm developer unveils new co-op shooter Outriders

People Can Fly to space.

Outriders is a Mad Max-y co-op shooter from Bulletstorm and Gears of War Judgement studio People Can Fly.

It's for one to three players, and is currently set for launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in summer 2020.

First hinted at last week with a quick teaser video of a character in cryostasis, we've now been given our first glimpse at the game proper during the E3 press conference of Square Enix, which is publishing.

Outriders is a "dark modern shooter with a traditional voice", People Can Fly says, with a strong story you can see with your friends or on your own. It's set on a hostile world full of monsters - including a towering beastie glimpsed at the end of today's trailer.

You'll create your own Outrider and go searching for a mysterious signal.

Development at People Can Fly is being supplemented by help from Square Enix External Studios, amongst its own international teams. Only last week, People Can Fly announced its fourth studio, situated in New York City, with a team led by the former co-founders of former Lords of the Fallen 2 outfit Defiant Studios.

"Outriders is the game that we have been wanting to make for years," People Can Fly boss Sebastian Wojciechowski said. "We're very happy to be working with Square Enix on this project, it's a big undertaking for us and the team has grown considerably to work on the Outriders project. We now have over 200 developers at four international studios working on this project to make it our most ambitious shooter to date."
