Atari to publish Ghostbusters game?

It's out next summer, apparently.

Variety is reporting that Atari will publish the new Ghostbusters game.

Word is the game will be released next summer to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first Ghostbusters movie. Apparently executives declined to comment, but "sources close to the publisher" confirmed the news.

Variety is also reporting that Atari has signed a deal with Sony Pictures "to produce further Ghostbusters games should the first one prove successful".

Ghostbusters, you may recall, was originally due to be published for PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, DS and Wii by Sierra. It features a script by Dan Akroyd and the voices and likenesses of the original cast, including Ernie Hudson, who is amazing.

When contacted by Eurogamer this morning, Atari declined to comment. However, the publisher has just announced it's picked up the rights to another Sierra title - The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, which is out next spring.
