Apex Legends shows off Season 3 gameplay trailer ahead of tomorrow's launch

Tales from the Crypto.

Respawn Entertainment is poised to hit the launch button on Apex Legends' third season tomorrow, 1st October, but before its giant finger descends fully, the developer has offered up a gameplay trailer, showing off, among other things, its brand-new fire-and-ice-themed map.

As revealed last week, Apex Legends' third season will see the free-to-play battle royale shooter waving goodbye to its current Kings Canyon map, transporting its crack team of Legends to Planet Talos and the new World's Edge map "where molten heat and chemical ice collide".

There's a sizeable look at World's Edge, including the moving train that forms something of a focal point for the new location, in the gameplay footage below.

As you might expect though, Respawn has more to show than just a map. Its new trailer also offers a brief look at Apex Legends' new Charge Rifle weapon, as well as new playable hero Crypto (real name Park Tae Joon), who appears in both his default guise, and with a slightly less day-glo alternative skin - presumably part of Season 3's Battle Pass.

Apex Legends Season 3, officially subtitled Meltdown, begins tomorrow, 1st October, on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
