Apex Legends arrives on Steam this November alongside Season 7

But Switch version delayed into next year.

Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play battle royale shooter Apex Legends will, at long last, be making its way to Steam on 4th November. Switch owners eagerly awaiting the game's arrival, however, will unfortunately need to wait a little longer, with the developer now confirming a delay on Nintendo's platform.

Respawn shared Apex Legends' 4th November launch on Steam - which coincides with the arrival of Season 7 - in a new post on its website. The developer also offered a reminder that all account progression and unlocks will carry over between Steam and Origin, should anyone be gripped with the urge to switch preferred storefronts at any time.

The news is, unfortunately, less rosy for Switch players, who were initially told to expect Apex Legends on Nintendo's platform this autumn. Respawn says that while it's "still hard at work" on the port, "this year has brought on unexpected new challenges, to put it mildly, and we don't want to rush anything out." As such, it's now expect to launch on Switch some time in 2021.

More positively, Respawn confirms Apex Legends on Switch will support cross-platform play, the latest seasonal content, and full feature parity with other versions of the game. Cross-play support, of course, launched for current platforms earlier this month.

While Apex Legends' Season 7 is still a few weeks off, players can pass the time with a bit of spooky fun, courtesy of the game's returning Fight or Fright limited-time Halloween event, which kicked off yesterday and will continue until 3rd November.
