Beyond Good & Evil for XBLA House Party

Plus: Torchlight, Hard Corps Rising, more.

The HD revamp of classic Ubisoft adventure Beyond Good & Evil tops the list of titles heading your way in the forthcoming Xbox Live Arcade House Party season.

Other titles confirmed for the XBLA festival, which begins on 16th February, include Konami's Hard Corps Rising. The retro run 'n' gunner will kick things off, with one game being released during each of the four subsequent weeks.

Aside from Beyond Good & Evil, Popcap Games delivers Bejeweled Blitz, Microsoft Game Studios deals Full House Poker and Runic Games ports over its excellent 2009 Diablo homage Torchlight.

Ubisoft is yet to announce details for Beyond Good & Evil's confirmed PlayStation Network release.

Beyond Good & Evil will be mine! Mine!

Hope it gets the appreciation (and sales) it deserves this time :-)

It was on xbox and ps2 also...

Hope a PS3 release of Torchlight and BG&E HD isn't too far away then. Damn you, timed exclusives. Nothing more than poking the other party's eye out as far as I'm concerned; "ha, we've already got it and you have to wait two months, ha!"

I'd pay 1200 points for Beyond Good & Evil.

So I'm assuming that since it's part of the "House Party" that all of these games are timed exclusive to the 360. Bad form Konami and Ubisoft. Bad form.

Well, there goes the last reason to hold on to my old backwards compatible launch PS3 which seems to get a regular case of the YLODs nowadays. A swift upgrade to a slim the next time it karks is on.

I'm so glad that the HD remakes are really focussing on the true under played greats (Ico, SoTC, Sly, BGE) rather than the big names at the time - inevitable I guess, as the big names all have newer sequels, and it's a cheap(ish) way to rebuild interest in great original IP and (hopefully) justify proper this-gen sequels.

Before any young'uns ask: yes, it really is as brilliant as the old codgers say, and worth a tenner or so of your cash any time. Why? Originality, character, charm, story and great, great gameplay. The mutant offspring of Ninty's Zelda gaming perfection and French bonkers avante-garde sensibilities.

    Mammago!

@ZizouFC: you'll be lucky. I expect a 1600mp price tag given that a short title like Limbo went out at 1200mp.

(i suspect you may not like to hear that, but I'll ask if you can refrain from flying off the handle and headbutting my chest)

I never had the chance to play this little gem. Thank you Ubi/Microsoft!

"teh Xbox version which officially no one bought cos HURRR DURRR XBOX WANNA PLAY HALO MAN? "

also i think the timed console exclusivity for ps2 killed the xbox version... this and PoP:SoT

Oh, so THAT's why I can't play my original Xbox copy of BG&E on the 360 already...

"the classic GameCube adventure Beyond Good & Evil"

that's a bit of an odd statement seeing as it was a multi-platform game (it was released on Xbox, PS2 and PC as well)!
  • Mentat_Idaho #13 1 year ago

I loved BG&E - I guess I was the only person to buy it on the original Xbox!

I still have my original Xbox copy, so really looking forward to this HD re-make!

    BG&E and Torchlight = yey!

Thus continues my spending more money on arcade than full priced games.

Torchlight is a suprise. If they can get Torchlight working on consoles, whats stopping blizzard porting Diablo 3 across too? Fingers crossed :)
  • Dizzy #18 1 year ago

    TorchLight? Wow.. great.
  • Jonathan_Fakenham #19 1 year ago

Just checked up on the release dates for this one, as I seemed to remember this not being a simultaneous multiplatform release, and it was actually released on the PS2 first! Then Windows, then Xbox, and then on Gamecube.
  • Jonathan_Fakenham #20 1 year ago

Going by how much I liked playing DeathSpank, I'd say Torchlight could go well on a console.
  • Toothball #21 1 year ago

I had picked up BG&E during a Steam sale, but I'll probably go with the shiny new version. Possibly do the same with Torchlight, although I might leave that one for another sale.
  • djed #22 1 year ago

It was a gamecube classic because IT WAS ON THE GAMECUBE.
  • arcam #23 1 year ago

Torchlight is a fantastic game, highly recommended.

However Torchlight 2 is coming soon - I wonder if we can see this release as a signal of its multi-platform intentions...
  • Midian #24 1 year ago

    BG&E HD = WIN

Torchlight? On a joypad? Ok. Be interesting to see how that works/FAILS SO HARD IT CAN BE SEEN FROM SPACE (delete as appropriate)
  • GamesConnoisseur #25 1 year ago

    BG&E a must of course

But also very much salivating at the House Poker which ll the one to replace the sadly much missed 1 v 100 live matches on XBLA and I know other mates are also very much keen to settle who is the best of best.

    Gonna be fun!

whats stopping blizzard porting Diablo 3 across too?

They want to focus their efforts on building games for their own Battle.net platform instead.
  • arcam #27 1 year ago

I think it's almost certain at least one of the consoles will get a Diablo 3 port. Not at the time of release, but some time after. Have heard quite a few positive comments about a console port from Blizzard, and I'm sure Activision will be doing everything they can to convince them to port it.

Uh, sorry to be a pedant but how does having the original Xbox version give reason to be looking forward to the 360 release? Surely it doesn't matter either way, or in fact those without it would have more reason to look forward to it so that they can actually play it. It's not a sequel, it's the same game.
  • Froggit #30 1 year ago

Uh, sorry to be a pedant but he's not saying he's looking forward to it because he's still got the older version, he's just putting it into context.
And the fact he has the original "matters" because it means he's played it so knows what he's in for.
What doesn't "matter" is who has more reason to look forward to itas long as he does.

What a stupid post to questioning.

    ...etc
