Worms Ultimate Mayhem announced

Oh no it's 3D.

There's a 3D Worms game coming to PC, PSN and Xbox Live Arcade this year.

And breathe.

Worms Ultimate Mayhem is a "souped-up", revamped and high definition combination of Worms 3D and Worms 4: Mayhem.

All the content of both games returns, intact, as well as more missions, puzzles, customisation and worms.

"In squeezing the entire content of both Worms 3D and Worms 4: Mayhem into one collector's edition digital package, we've delivered a best of the 3D Worms games experience," Team17 design lead John Dennis commented.

Apparently the camera has been improved, voice acting added and more multiplayer maps stuffed in.

Worms 3D was released in 2003. In his Eurogamer Worms 3D review, Martin Taylor (now a designer here) called the game "one of the most satisfying, addictive and downright enjoyable multiplayer gaming experiences I've ever encountered". And he really didn't want me to write that.

Worms 4: Mayhem touched down in 2005. Tom Bramwell, in his Worms 4: Mayhem review, declared that "of course it would be unfair to mark Worms 4 harshly because of what we'd like it to be".

He then wrote, "It's becoming increasingly clear that the things that people don't like about it are not simply bugs or misjudgements, but worryingly innate."

Worms 2D has already been resurrected for every major platform.
