WiiWare US-bound in May

But no European date as yet.

Nintendo has confirmed reports that WiiWare will offer its charms to Americans from 12th May.

The Wall Street Journal predicted this earlier, behaving a bit like one of those precogs who live in swimming pools.

WiiWare lets you download original games for little money, like you do on Live Arcade or PSN, although exact pricing is still to be determined.

Promising prospects so far include the recently unveiled LostWinds from industry old-timer David Braben and his Frontier team.

Telltale of Sam & Max fame is also apparently working on a "new" episodic series.

There's no word on a European date just yet, but we're hoping it will follow the Wii Fit example and show up here a month earlier in April.
