Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary now backwards compatible on Xbox One

Buried treasure.

Xbox players who want to prepare for Shadow of the Tomb Raider's release next month can now perfect their grappling techniques old-school style, as two of Lara Croft's earlier adventures have been added to Xbox One's backwards compatibility list.

The two classic games in question are Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary. Both games will be available on the Xbox store for the (very reasonable) price of £1.49.

Legend, the seventh game in the Tomb Raider series, was originally released in 2006 and was described as an "old-style Lara adventure" full of "lasting nostalgia" even then. A year later, Tomb Raider Anniversary was released. A reworking of the very first Tomb Raider game, Anniversary retained the original's brilliant level design but gave it a lick of fresh paint.

This Lara Croft duo continues Microsoft's recent trend of releasing a pair of backwards-compatible games every week. What other classics will we see announced in the months ahead?
