The Conduit aiming for early 2009

Wii shooter to break casual stereotype.

High Voltage plans to release ambitious Wii game The Conduit in early 2009.

The shooter still has no publisher, mind you, but continues with similar bold claims to those made earlier in the year when we were told most Wii games "look like crap".

"Too many Wii owners have been told that the Wii is a casual platform with no room for serious games or top-tier graphics," said Eric Nofsinger, creative chief at High Voltage.

"With The Conduit, we intend to prove that theory wrong by providing gamers with the kind of title they imagined back when the platform was first announced."

As such, The Conduit will boast usual first-person shooter features such as fancy graphics and online multiplayer, as well as a control system designed specifically for the Wii.

The story will be mature and based around government conspiracies in the aftermath of an alien attack on Washington. You just have to find out the truth. If you can handle it, unlike Tom Cruise.

We hope High Voltage can put its money where its mouth is.
