Report: Murdered: Soul Suspect dev Airtight closes down

UPDATE: Waves goodbye on Twitter.

UPDATE 03/07/2014: Airtight Games has waved goodbye on Twitter, confirming its closure.

In a series of Tweets the studio thanked the many staff who worked on its games over the course of its 10-year existence.

It appears the writing had been on the wall for Airtight for some time. Following yesterday's news one former member of staff said layoffs began as far back as January 2014.

ORIGINAL STORY 02/07/2014: Airtight Games, the developer of Murdered: Soul Suspect, has closed down, according to a new report.

Geekwire visited Airtight's studio in Redmond, Washington and found a sign outside saying the company was closing its doors and office equipment was for sale.

Airtight made Murdered: Soul Suspect, which was recently published by Square Enix, download title Quantum Conundrum, and Dark Void for Capcom.

In April Airtight made 14 staff redundant as part of a "necessary restructuring".

"This restructuring is part of the normal ebb and flow of game production. Existing projects are on schedule and Airtight Games is actively seeking partners for exciting upcoming projects," Airtight president and creative director Jim Deal said at the time.

Just prior to that Airtight creative director Kim Swift - best known as the designer of Portal - announced she'd left the company to become a senior game designer at Amazon Game Studios.

There's no mention of the studio having closed on Airtight's official website. The last post on its Facebook page was made on 11th June, pointing to a Steam promotion for Murdered: Soul Suspect.
