Katamari Damacy sequel in development

Namco reportedly confirms that the rolling star's about to get a little less lonely.

Namco is working on a sequel to innovative, um, "roll-'em-up" Katamari Damacy and plans to release it in Japan on the PlayStation 2 during its 2005 financial year, according to a report on IGN.

Katamari Damacy 2 was apparently listed amongst Namco's plans for FY 2005 in an investor report hosted on Namco's "WonderPage" official website, and unlike a number of games it wasn't listed as "tentative", suggesting that Namco has made up its mind about a sequel.

Which is not that surprising when you consider the weight of the positive response to the Japanese version and the US conversion released recently. For more details we suggest you catch up on our review of the Japanese version here, and we'll be sure to let you know if and when we hear details of a European launch for either the original or the sequel.
