SOCOM 3 sizes up

Some maps six times bigger.

The new SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs blog, created by Zipper Interactive and Sony Computer Entertainment America, has turned up some fresh info about the maps in the forthcoming tactical-action title.

By streaming the levels instead of saving them to memory, the design team declares that some of the maps in SOCOM 3 will be so big they could hold over six of the old maps from the last game. The scale has been expanded substantially to fit 32 players at once, providing more space to roam, and easier use of the numerous vehicles littered around, such as jeeps and Humvees.

You can see the demonstration map, Killing Fields, for yourself over at the blog site.

SOCOM 3: U.S Navy SEALs will be released on PlayStation 2 this September.
