Ratchet & Clank for PSP

Details and shots.

Ratchet & Clank appears to be on its way to PlayStation Portable - and in a fairly advanced state already.

The news comes courtesy of a product page on EBGames.com - not always a reliable guide, but in this case a pretty rounded collection of details including some screenshots.

According to the page, Ratchet & Clank's first PSP outing sees the platforming duo discover the forgotten race of Technomites while on holiday, only to realise the little basts are bent on world domination. Playing as both Ratchet and Clank, you'll take them on, with a Shrink Ray and a customisable armour system amongst other things. The game looks to be upholding the series' usual mixture of platforming and gunnery.

There's also talk of downloadable multiplayer missions, which suggests some sort of wireless multiplayer mode - and there's specific talk of Wi-Fi item-trading.

Sony hasn't said anything about Ratchet & Clank on PSP yet - and the name's strictly a placeholder - but don't be too surprised if it turns up amongst the ranks at E3. Much as R&C's pal from over the tracks, Daxter, did during last year's show. Daxter of course went on to be one of the PSP's most impressive outings to date - let's hope the same's true with R&C.

EBGames suggests Ratchet & Clank is due out on PSP next March.
