Street Fighter coming to PSP

Complete with four new fighters.

Capcom has announced that a new instalment in the Street Fighter series is currently in development from the PSP.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max will be just like the SF Alpha 3 arcade game, except you can expect specially designed additional content - including a Wi-Fi multiplayer option which will let up to eight opponents fight in round-robin mini tournaments.

The game will feature more than 30 classic SF characters, plus four new ones - Yun, Maki and Eagle from Capcom vs. SNK 2, and Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution - each with their own original storyline.

There's a new gameplay mode, too - titled Variable Battle Mode, it'll let you take part in real-time tag team brawls. When you tag out the second fighter will enter with a jump attack, which should come in very handy for escaping when you're cornered.

We're promised "the same compelling experience that players have come to expect from the series," with the usual collection of Arcade, Survival and Battle modes. You can also fight against bosses in Final Battle Mode, and multiplayer modes include Versus, Team Battle and Versus Dramatic Battle, where you can set up 2-on-1 matches. Then there's the aforementioned Versus Variable Battle mode for "infinite tag team competitions."

A release date for Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max has yet to be announced, but we'll keep you posted.
