THQ preps four for Wii launch
Cars pretty much the headliner.
THQ will have four games available at the Nintendo Wii launch on 8th December, the publisher announced this week, although the most exciting on the list is probably Disney Pixar's Cars.
That, of course, is an adaptation the film of the same name, as is Barnyard, while Avatar: The Last Airbender and SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab are both based on TV licences.
"Nintendo has a remarkable ability to inspire game developers to create compelling interactive experiences for their increasingly innovative game systems," THQ's executive veepee of worldwide publishing Kelly Flock this-is-what-we-could-finish-in-timed.
"As the #1 third-party publisher of software across all Nintendo gaming systems, THQ's library of popular mass-market brands aligns perfectly with Nintendo's strategy of creating fun and accessible experiences for the new Wii system," Flock added. (Well, we're not sure if the crosshatch bit was said out loud, but the rest is on the money.)
Anyway, THQ's announcement means that there's even more third-party support for an already pretty well supported launch day.
Most notably, Ubisoft has already pledged eight launch titles (Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Open Season, Blazing Angels, Far Cry 2006, GT, Monster 4x4 World Circuit, Rayman Raving Rabbids and Red Steel), while the likes of Electronic Arts (Need For Speed: Carbon), Activision (Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam) and SEGA (Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz) are also lining up support. First-party titles due out on 8th December include The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports (bundled with the console) and Wii Play.
