DJs launch Savage mod contest

Win 2000 squid! (Well, euro.)

To celebrate the launch next Friday of Savage: The Battle for Newerth - a delicious union of real-time strategy and first-person shooting from S2 Games - Britsoft publisher Digital Jesters is running a mod-making competition in conjunction with NVIDIA and PC Format magazine. A whopping €2000 is up for grabs for the winning individual or mod team, as well as five GeForce FX graphics cards.

If you feel like signing up, all you have to do is plug your details in over here and you'll be able to download the necessary modding tools. Beyond that it's entirely up to you, but you can expect to find hints and tips in PC Format's "The Game Maker" supplement, and there's a dedicated forum to keep an eye on too.

According to the Savage website, the competition officially opens on March 1st, and closes on July 31st, after which submissions will be judged based on originality, balancing and playability, with every entry to be made available through www.savageeurope.com.

As you probably know by now, Savage (reviewed today) is due out in the UK on February 27th priced £29.99, and throughout the rest of Europe in March and April. And if you absolutely can't wait that long, you can actually buy and download the game online for the equivalent of $29.99, as long as you don't mind missing out on a box, printed manual and the various bonus items going into Europe's bumper Savage pack.
