Electronic Arts is planning to bring The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-Earth II (what a time to discover the comma) to Xbox 360 this summer.

The real-time strategy game, based on the PC version due out March 3rd, will be the first Rings game to work on Xbox Live too.

In development at EA Los Angeles, it promises "new and intuitive console-specific control scheme" suitable for novices and experts alike. A PROMISE IS A PROMISE, EA. REMEMBER THAT.

Shouting aside, it's also worth mentioning that it looks quite nice, as you can see if you check out the two screenshots EA pumped into our inbox just now.

We'll have more on both versions of the game in the run up to their respective releases.
