New Caribbean pirates game

It's 100 per cent unofficial!

Atari has signed a new deal to bring new PC RPG Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales to Europe.

As you might have guessed, the game is set in the Caribbean and features loads of pirates - but it's nothing to do with the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Just a coincidence, you understand.

Playing as bold fortune hunter Blaze or his wild, red-headed stepsister Beatrice, you must sail the seas, fight epic naval battles and generally seek out treasure wherever it may be found. There 16 different ships plus plenty of upgrades, and you can lead up to four vessels at a time.

You'll have to cope with varying weather conditions, and when you're not enjoying a life on the ocean wave you'll need to conquer and manage colonies, construct town buildings and defend yourself against attacks.

There are four multiplayer modes - deathmatch, team deathmatch, defend the convoy and capture the fort - and up to 16 opponents can take part.

Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales is being developed by Akella, the Russian studio behind Sea Dogs, Age of Sail 2 and, coincidentally, the original Pirates of the Caribbean game. It's out this September.
