Speaking in a videoed segment during J Allard's keynote, legendary filmmaker James Cameron has revealed that his next film - thought to be anime adaptation Battle Angel - is being developed in tandem with a videogame project.

Although he would not reveal details of the project, Cameron said that movie and game would be complementary products, with the two being worked on side by side throughout the creative process.

The director, whose previous work includes Aliens, The Abyss, the first two Terminator films and Titanic, is noted for embracing new technology in his approach to entertainment - ranging from using groundbreaking digital effects in The Abyss and Terminator 2: Judgement Day through to his current use of IMAX and "3D" cinema screens for documentary movie Ghosts Of The Abyss.

The project he referred to is likely to be Battle Angel, a heavily computer-generated adaptation of classic anime movie Battle Angel Alita which has been a pet project of Cameron's for some time, but is recently thought to have entered production.

While Cameron didn't say which game platforms he was targeting with this new title, it seems likely that the Xbox 2 will be on the list, since the director revealed his intention during the keynote speech which represented one of Microsoft's first public discussions of its plans for the next-generation platform.
