GTA: Sin City pops up on Amazon

Wishful thinking?

Excitable types have been emailing us this weekend highlighting a recent addition to the ranks of pre-order titles on Amazon.co.uk - none other than Grand Theft Auto IV: Sin City, priced £29.99 and allegedly due for release on November 5th, 2004 on PlayStation 2.

However despite Amazon's optimism, Take-Two and publishing division Rockstar Games have yet to confirm the title, setting or release date for "the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series", other than admitting in a recent financial statement that it will be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Nevertheless Amazon obviously feels strongly enough about the matter to offer a pre-order - a discounted pre-order, in fact.

Rockstar has yet to comment on the posting, but we generally expect a GTAIV announcement at the E3 convention in Los Angeles this coming May. The name "Sin City" has been bouncing around the Internet rumour mill for ages now, by no means confirmed, and is believed to refer to Las Vegas (where Liberty City had been New York and Vice City had been Miami in previous instalments). Other potential settings include San Andreas (San Francisco), the second city in the very first GTA title.
