All-new BioWare title to use Unreal 3 tech

Another reason to upgrade your creaking PC...

BioWare Corp's next all-new title will use Epic's stunning Unreal 3 technology, it was confirmed today.

The revered Canadian developer revealed little about the new project, except to say that one of its teams is "already hard at work" on the game, and that it was "new intellectual property". Not a new Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights, then.

"We're very happy to license Epic's advanced Unreal Engine 3 technology," said BioWare's joint CEO Dr. Ray Muzyka. "One of our development teams will now focus on using Unreal Engine 3 to help us create a great gaming experience in a timely manner.

"The Unreal Engine has powered some of our favourite games, and we're looking forward to upholding the great history of this engine with an awesome game from BioWare," he added.

Another BioWare Dr., Greg Zeschuk, also joint CEO, added, "BioWare will continue to independently develop our own cutting-edge engine technology for future titles!"

Meanwhile, as is the way with press releases, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney chipped in, saying he was "thrilled" about BioWare's involvement, and said that it "reinforces that Unreal Engine 3 is not only a next generation, multi-genre game engine but also that it can work well for all developers, from small teams to world-class, technologically-savvy companies like BioWare."

As if that wasn't enough senior comments for one morning, Epic Vee-Pee Mark Rein, chirped: "BioWare has made some of the best games of all time and we can't wait to see what amazing things they're going to do with Unreal Engine 3!". Indeed sir, indeed. The question is, is this a PC-only game, or some sort of next gen console project? K'yeah! Like they'd tell us...
