Minecraft: Pocket Edition launches on Windows Phone

Plus, more Xbox-exclusive DLC launched.

Mojang and its new owner Microsoft have launched Minecraft: Pocket Edition for Windows Phone devices.

The handheld version costs £4.99 in the UK.

Mojang first announced a Windows Phone version of its smash-hit sandbox game back in October - after Microsoft's $2.5bn purchase of both the game and studio.

Minecraft's Pocket Edition has already sold more than 21m copies on iOS and Android.

In other Minecraft news, the game's Xbox 360 and Xbox One editions now host a festive mash-up pack, which adds a selection of winter and Christmassy items and textures, plus new skins and music.

At the moment this pack is exclusive to Xbox versions of the game, similar to the recent Star Wars and Doctor Who skin pack releases.
