Minecraft film delayed as director and writer are replaced

Video game films are notorious for being pretty bad, but in the case of the upcoming Minecraft film by Warner Brothers, the problems are beginning even before the film hits cinemas.
According to The Wrap, the film has lost both its director, Rob McElhenney (Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and the writer who helped to create the original script, Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman). The pair have been replaced by another director-writer pair, Aaron and Adam Nee, who are perhaps best known for the 2015 film Band of Robbers.
Unsurprisingly, this means the Minecraft film is no longer on track for its May 2019 release date, and there's no new release window in sight. The project was initially announced over four years ago, and this latest update throws yet more doubt over the future of the film.
