Kojima: "We'll probably have to make Metal Gear Solid 5"

"At some point."

Game developer legend Hideo Kojima has admitted he'll probably have to make Metal Gear Solid 5 eventually.

But it sounds like a long way off - Kojima told Official PlayStation Magazine he has no idea what it'll be.

"I think we'll probably have to make it [a sequel to MGS4] at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea," is his exact quote.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots launched as a PlayStation 3 exclusive in June 2008. Fans have speculated on the inevitable follow-up ever since.

When Konami does get around to building the game, it seems Kojima will have less influence than he had on previous iterations in the series.

"As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, [it] probably won't be as much as it was with MGS1 - maybe I can do just one stage!" he said.

"For MGS1 I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on - that level I can't do again."

Kojima is working on Project Ogre, his mystery new game. He is also set to re-reveal the missing in action Metal Gear Solid Rising with an appearance at the Spike Video Game Awards next month.
