Kabam kills Star Wars Uprising

If you strike me down...

Star Wars Uprising is shutting down, developer Kabam has announced.

The mobile action role-playing game, which came out in 2015, was designed to help bridge the narrative gap between the end of Return of the Jedi and the events of new movie, The Force Awakens (more on that in the video, below).

The development team included Daniel Erickson, former creative director of Star Wars: The Old Republic and Danny Keller, Emmy award nominee for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, so it had some pedigree.

But it's clear Star Wars Uprising failed to bring in enough cash for Kabam.

"Despite the best efforts of our team here at Kabam, unfortunately, Star Wars: Uprising will soon be decommissioned," Kabam said.

"While Star Wars: Uprising was enjoyed by a great community of players since its launch, the game is no longer achieving the level of success needed to maintain the game and the decision was made to discontinue support."

The servers permanently shut down on 1th November 2016. The ability to make in-app purchases was blocked yesterday.

In September 2015, our Ian had a play of Star Wars Uprising and described it as "a bit of a grind but still quite fun" with absolutely no requests for his hard-earned cash during the hours he put in. Bit of a shame, then, that it's shutting up shop.
