It's the return of the Eurogamer Podcast!
A behind-the-scenes chat on our 'I was in Football Manager' piece.
It wouldn't be Eurogamer if we didn't try something new with the podcast at least every couple of years, so here we go again. The Eurogamer Podcast - it's back!
This time, we've got a slightly different approach. There's a new host (myself, Matthew Reynolds) and we plan to release episodes every other Thursday, with each podcast focused on a particular topic, based on what our staff is working on or currently playing.
It could be an event or trip we've just returned from, a game we can't stop talking about in the office, or a behind-the-scenes look at a piece on the site - much like the 'specials' from previous years, such as Christian Donlan on Egyptian board game Senet, or Wesley Yin-Poole on the life and death of Lionhead. (They're still cracking listens, by the way, if you missed them first time round.)
With that in mind, our first returning episode sees Wes and myself talk to Chris Tapsell about an article he wrote earlier this year - I was in Football Manager and I don't know how I feel about it.
It's an account of how he spent his youth breaking into professional football, and ended up in one of the most world's most popular video games because of it - and without spoiling things, there's some unexpected results.
Even if you don't follow football at all, it's a brilliant, personal read - and a pleasure having Chris on the podcast to tell us all about it.
Oh, and the book Chris wanted to recommend during the episode is 'No Hunger in Paradise' by Michael Calvin, if you're interested!
