GH3 gets Halo theme
Boosting music sales, too.
Activision has released a remix of the Halo theme for Guitar Hero III. It's now available on Live and it won't cost you a penny.
The release comes off the back of news that Guitar Hero III is helping bolster digital music sales for bands featured in the game.
According to a report on Ars Technica, starring acts The Strokes, Sleeping and Sonic Youth all enjoyed increased popularity after the game launched in the US at the end of October.
Persuading record companies to feature music in games has historically been a chore, but recently the shoe made its way to the other foot. EA claimed earlier this year that one song in Need for Speed could be heard as many as a billion times around the world, making our medium even more of an influence on its target demographic than radio.
Despite this, songs often have to be covered in Guitar Hero, and apparently Activision has gotten a little too good at it. Rockers The Romantics have reportedly filed a lawsuit against the publisher, claiming the song "What I Like About You" sounds far too much like them.
Their sound is supposedly unique and took them a long time to cultivate, and this mimicry is confusing people into thinking the Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s version is the real potato.
Guitar Hero III is out in Europe on Friday and is really rather good, pop over to our review if you don't believe me.
