EA shutting down four F2P PC games

Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free, Need for Speed World and FIFA World.

EA is pulling the plug on four of its older free-to-play PC titles.

These include Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield Play4Free, Need for Speed World and FIFA World.

EA noted on its blog that these games will remain available for the next 90 days, which will be 14th July.

The published said that there titles "are not as popular as they once were" and that shutting them down was a "tough decision".

On the plus side, EA ensured Star Wars: The Old Republic enthusiasts that the popular MMO won't be going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, it's only going to get more content later this year.

Of the titles singing their swan song this spring, EA reminisced: "In more than five years since most of these titles launched, how we play games has changed dramatically. These were pioneering experiences, and we're humbled that, over the years, so many of you joined us to enjoy the games and the community."
