Capcom can no longer sell Tatsunoko vs. Capcom due to rights lapse

"Unless Japan were to strike a new deal, I'd say the chances of this happening are slim."

The Wii exclusive 2010 fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars is soon to become a collector's item as Capcom has lost the rights to sell its title bearing its namesake due to its rights with animation studio Tatsunoko expiring.

"Our rights with Tatsunoko have lapsed fairly recently (so we're no longer allowed to sell the title physically or digitally)," said Capcom Senior VP Christian Svensson on the Capcom-Unity forums. "Unless Japan were to strike a new deal, I'd say the chances of this happening are slim."

This is a crying shame as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was a critical success upon release nearly three years ago. "To say it's a good stopgap for Super Street Fighter 4 would be an injustice, as it's a fighter that stands out on its own merit," said Matt Edwards in Eurogamer's 8/10 Tatsunoko vs. Capcom review. "Those who look beyond the tinted visors will discover not just an excellent Wii game but an all kinds of awesome 2D fighter."
