Blizzard is remastering Warcraft 3 at last

And it's out next year.

Blizzard has announced the long-rumoured and much wished-for remaster of its classic real-time strategy game, Warcraft 3.

Warcraft 3: Reforged will be released for PC in 2019. It's an extensive restoration of the game that includes fully remodelled characters, remastered maps and campaign levels, an upgraded UI and world editor and 4K resolution support.

And yes, that upgraded world editor means that mods are supported.

Multiplayer will be enhanced with "modern matchmaking" and "countless quality-of-life improvements", and "hundreds" of balance changes are being made to heroes, units and buildings. And of course the 62 single-player missions cover many important events in Warcraft lore, including Arthas Menethil's tragic fall.
