The four primary locations featured in Assassin's Creed: Revelations have been unveiled.

As revealed by Game Informer, you'll be exploring Rhodes and Masyaf, as well as Constantinople and Cappadocia which were disclosed earlier this month.

Apparently the story will begin in the Syrian citadel of Masyaf, as featured in the original Assassin's Creed. Ezio returns to the assassin's stronghold to learn more about the order in its library but finds the fortress over-run by Templars. Cue dust-up.

You'll be unable to achieve your goal at the start of the game but will return at its conclusion once you've collected various puzzle pieces.

As we already know, Constantinople is where most of the game will play out. For those who fell asleep during history class, it's the Turkish city now known as Istanbul.

"Constantinople is a massive city. It actually spans two continents – on one side is Europe, and other Asia," explained the game's creative director Alexandre Amancio.

"This is the center of the known world at that time. The spice trading and all that related trade happened through Constantinople. It was one of the main reasons that Europeans tried to go around Africa – because Constantinople was this great hub controlled by the Ottomans. And, essentially, everything needed to go through that city."

Ezio will also be taking in an underground Templar stronghold in Cappadocia – a province in eastern Turkey.

"Part of it is above ground, but its true secret is underground," commented Amancio. "This is the first time something like this has been done in the franchise. We have this complete underground city."

Finally, the game also takes in the Greek island of Rhodes as a multiplayer location. During the game's timeframe, the ruling Knights Hospitallers have transformed it into an enormous fortress to see off the invading Ottomans.

Ubisoft's recently announced sequel is due on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November.
