Psyonix details Rocket League's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S enhancements

Includes Performance/Quality settings on Xbox.

Rocket League certainly isn't being left out of that next-gen enhancements action, and developer Psyonix has now detailed the changes coming to its four-wheeled footie game on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 before the end of the year.

In a new post on the Rocket League website, Psyonix explains it has two batches of updates on the way for next-gen consoles. The first, arriving on launch day, will boost Rocket League to 4K/60fps with HDR on Xbox Series X, and 1080p/60fps with HDR on Series S.

PS5 owners, meanwhile, can enjoy 4K (checkerboard) at 60fps with HDR, and all next-gen consoles will feature faster load times and improved split-screen performance.

The second update is so far only announced for Xbox Series X/S and will introduce a new Video Quality setting to the Video tab of Rocket League's Settings menu. This will enable players to select between Quality and Performance, which Psyonix details as follow:

Xbox Series X

Quality:

  • 4K resolution at 60 FPS with HDR

Performance:

  • Game runs at 2688x1512 resolution (70% of full 4K) at 120 FPS with HDR

Xbox Series S

Quality:

  • 1080p Resolution at 60 FPS with HDR

Performance:

  • Game runs at 1344x756 (70% of Full 1080p) Resolution at 120 FPS with HDR

Additionally, Psyonix notes that players will be able to access their existing Rocket Pass progress and inventory on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S via their Epic Games Account.
