Evo apologises for misleading Solid Snake cameo video during Tekken finals

"That was some good-ass Tekken."

Just before the Tekken 7 Grand Finals at Evo this weekend, a short video featuring Snake speaking over a Metal Gear Solid codec lead attendees to believe the character was officially being teased for inclusion in the game.

Unfortunately for fans, it was all just a joke set up by Evo, which took to Twitter to apologise after it all got a bit out of hand.

In the codec, Snake can be heard saying, "That was some good-ass Tekken" to the game's producer, Katsuhiro Harada. It was only shown to attendees however, and not played on the official Evo stream.

As you can see from the video below, fans instantly reacted assuming this was some kind of character confirmation:

Publisher Bandai Namco did have an actual official announcement however: it revealed Zafina will be returning to the game with Season Pass 3 along with a new character, Leroy Smith, who will have his first appearance this winter.
