Another week in Destiny 2, another set of dramas.

This week's kerfuffle concerns the game's returned Faction Rally event and, once again, a perceived lack of rewards.

Fan criticism has centred around an unexplained cooldown system which locks players out of rewards when obtained too frequently - ie. simply by playing at a normal pace.

The discovery sparked outrage among Destiny fans still smarting over a another hidden cooldown system found in the past. And the whole thing wasn't helped by Bungie having promised only last week that it had turned over a new leaf of transparency to try and settle its salty community.

Now, in a new blog post, Bungie has acknowledged the hidden cooldown and admitted it was "too disruptive".

The developer has also apologised for not explaining how only certain items would be available in the event's loot pool - it previously showed off a full set of gear ostensibly up for grabs, but this will instead be drip-fed over the coming months.

Explaining the hidden cooldown, Bungie community manager Cozmo said:

"There was an issue in the previous Faction Rallies where players were earning hundreds of Faction Tokens per hour without firing a single shot. In the recent December 12 update, Faction Token rewards were added to an existing system that was locking players out from Lost Sector Rewards. We have heard player feedback that this solution was too disruptive.

"We're looking at a change that won't make players feel forced to run to and from a single chest for hours while also not placing a hard stop on enjoying Lost Sectors. We want to ensure that every time you open a chest there is loot inside. We'll share more details on this before the next Faction Rallies."

And, on the wider amount of gear expected:

"It was not made clear beforehand that the new Season 2 weapons would be added throughout the events of the Season rather than all at once in the beginning. This was on us. No excuses.

"You can read the full details with how the weapons will be rolled out here. We will be remedying this lapse in communication next week with details on what you should expect when the next Iron Banner rolls out in Season 2."

Fingers crossed things improve for Crimson Days, the Valentines' Day-themed event due to arrive next in Destiny 2.
