New Sniper Elite 4 release date puts it within a month of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3

Scope for both?

Rebellion has just announced a 14th February 2017 release date for Sniper Elite 4, which puts it within a month of the other sniping game I confuse it with, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3.

Sniper Elite 4 was expected towards the end of this year (so was Ghost Warrior 3 until yesterday), but Rebellion said in a statement it had enough on its plate releasing PlayStation VR game Battlezone in October (a game we really enjoyed).

"When we revealed Sniper Elite 4 back in March our plan was to release it at the end of 2016," said Rebellion co-founders Jason and Chris Kingsley in a joint statement. "However, we now know Battlezone will release in October as a launch title alongside PlayStation VR. That gave us a tough decision to make. Ultimately, we're a relatively small independent studio, and releasing two major titles in the same quarter didn't seem like a sensible thing to do."

The upside to this is Sniper Elite 4 will benefit from more time in development, and a little more time for nips and tucks.

Sniper Elite 4 most notably differs from Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 in setting. Sniper Elite 4 is set during World War 2 whereas Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 is based around a modern day conflict in Eastern Europe.

Martin wrote a Sniper Elite 4 preview fairly recently and was impressed. "This one could be a seriously good video game," he wrote.
