Deadly Premonition director Swery65's upcoming D4 detailed

Think The Walking Dead with more time travel and optional Kinect support.

A series of new details have emerged explaining just what D4 - the mysterious new Xbox One-exclusive from Deadly Premonition director Hidetaka "Swery65" Suehiro - is.

Conversations will play out like a virtual comic book with the screen split into multiple frames.

As reported by IGN, D4 stands for Dark Dreams Don't Die, and it's a download-only title that follows a detective named David who has lost his memory, but somehow has the ability to "dive into the past" to solve crimes - notably, his wife's murder.

However, he won't be able to change events: only investigate them. He does this by touching objects related to a memory - something that sounds awfully similar to Deadly Premonition's lead, agent Francis York Morgan.

D4 will play similarly to Telltale's The Walking Dead, with specific objects to investigate, dialogue options to choose from, and QTE-action scenes that will change a little based on how well you perform them. Also, like Telltale's award-winning series, Swery wants to release D4 episodically - though it's not official that this will end up the case.

The game will support optional Kinect integration for both motion-controlled action sequences and voice-activated conversations. Swery stressed that these are entirely optional and the game is meant to be played sitting down.

Also, David refers to his own wife as "Little Peggy," confirming that this will continue Swery's offbeat brand of humour.
