The Last Story could be his last effort.

Hironobu Sakaguchi has said he could be picking up a pipe and slippers once his latest project is over.

The Final Fantasy creator is currently working on The Last Story, an RPG for the Wii. Writing on his blog (as translated by Kotaku), Sakaguchi said the game "might be my last work". Apparently he's knackered after pouring all his energy into it.

So will it be worth the effort? Have a look at the trailer if you want to take a guess. A release date for The Last Story is yet to be announced.

Honestly, the guys profile is like reading a Square-Enix Greatest Hits list. If it's his last work, I'm sure it'll be stellar, and after the career this man has had the past couple of decades he deserves a break!

edit; and FF9 was this mans idea, and it had Vivi, so he's automatically moved up to Stephen Fry in my list of men who really should be gods...

Seriously, I genuinely hope this game is the new Final Fantasy, cos the shit hasn't been right since FF10 - which, what a coincidence, is the same time the big man left. Bring it Sakaguchi.
