Gran Turismo 5 dated for Japan
Out in March 2010.
Sony and Polyphony Digital have announced that Gran Turismo 5 will be released for PlayStation 3 in March 2010 in Japan.
The game will feature 20 locations with over 70 tracks, full "Gran Turismo" mode for single-player and multiplayer, and some form of communication with the PSP.
Speaking at the Tokyo Game Show, developer Polyphony also confirmed some of the details that leaked onto its website a while ago - like video exports to PSP and YouTube, and hybrid and electric cars.
Those website leaks also told us to expect 1000 vehicles, 170 of which will have full interior modelling. Sony hasn't refuted any of the details.
Check out our recent hands-on with the game focusing on the damage modelling for more.

Ok... So i gotta wait forever, and buy a game that ain't finished. Looks like it will be Forza 3 for me, this is getting ridiculus

I've never understood the concept of hundreds of cars and only a few tracks (baring in mind whatever the makers list as the number fail to tell us that includes several variations of the same track). Maybe it's me – I can't say I'm much of a car person to be honest – cars are just tools to get a job done... I like racing and try and use the best car for the job. I fail to see the logic in giving games like Forza and Gran Tourismo dozens of cars that are utterly uncompetitive and will probably get ignored by the majority. While we'll all have favourite tracks or ones we can't stand racing on, surely we can't have enough of them, can we?

Still, some guy in the industry (Shiggsy) once said something like:
"People will forgive a great game for being late. They won't forgive a game for being bad"

That's kinda like Cobain singing Bon Jovi-songs in Guitar Hero: Clarkson might sue.

In the time between GT4 and GT5, there will have been 3 Forza's released...

Still disappointed though - basically this means I'll be unlocking all cars using the PSP in advance (which is also confirmed, and the 'some form of PSP interaction' that the article vagues up). And it's very likely I'll get a Gold subscription again and play some Forza 3 in the meantime. Turn10 must have been popping champagne last night.

This series is dead and gone, I hope this is the last Gran Turismo game and the studio either does something different or fucks off for good!
Forza is a far better game, it is a far better series, it is far better managed, its fans are treated with far more respect, it is moving in the right direction, it is the better driving experience.......... and it's actually out next month!

To tell you the truth i've gone passed caring about it.
Instead i'm looking forward to MW2. Can't wait
/Hopes ps3 no.4 lasts.....

Did you see the new Italian coast track? It's blatantly inspired by the "Best Road in Europe" episode.
Might be interested in GT5 next year if the PS3 goes down another bit in price though.

Why, Snoopy Flying Ace of course.
It will utterly destroy all future canine-based games for PS3.

But I guess I'll need that gold membership anyway if I plan on getting Forza 3 and playing online.

I think this is a smart move by PD. They have clearly decided to react to all the negative feedback they have been getting due to the poor implementation of damage. Ironically, the damage has already been done - to the hype surrounding this game.

Many champagne bottles will have been opened by now in Turn10 and Microsoft's headquarters, their sales expectations for Forza 3 and 360 have just risen a lot, to them it means no direct competence for at least 5 months (and those are critical months!). 360 is quite cheap by now and many GT followers may jump in to lessen the wait and to have a taster of that Forza thing that has been hyped about for so long.
PS: I pity poor guys at Bizarre Creations, terrible timing again, their release window for Blur may have been shattered for good (or released to 2010 Q3...).
