Star Wars Battlefront won't have microtransactions

"The currency system is based on your game performance."

Star Wars Battlefront will have multiple in-game currencies, but no microtransactions.

Battlefront design director Niklas Fegraeus confirmed that you won't be able to fork over real cash for better goods in an interview with Gamespot.

"The currency system is based on your game performance," said Fegraeus. "The credits that you use to buy things in the game are earned. You play the game, complete challenges, and that's how you get credits."

When asked if this was the only way to acquire new gear, the developer clarified "Yes, that's what's in the game. Absolutely."

Fegraeus went on the explain that there are multiple ways to earn points and credits. "There are several [credit] systems working together here. Just doing things in the game earns you points, and those [points] earn you credits. That's the baseline system; the more you do, the more credits you get," he said. "But then there are other systems, such as small challenges for you to complete, and rewards for different actions."

Star Wars Battlefront will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC on 19th November in the UK. An open beta will be available from 8th-12th October. Our own Tom Morgan had a go of it recently and said it "stands to be the Star Wars shooter fans have always wanted," in his early Star Wars Battlefront impressions.
