Watch Valve's Chet Faliszek on VR - and the rest of today's EGX sessions

Total War: Warhammer, Hellblade and VR game The Assembly.

We've just wrapped up the first day of developer sessions here at EGX 2015 in Birmingham's bewilderingly huge NEC - seriously, you should see the size of this thing - and you can watch all of them below.

The headliner was Valve's Chet Faliszek, with a typically witty and dense talk that sought to clear up confusion, explode myths and counter common misconceptions about virtual reality. It's essential watching if you're interested in the topic, plus an audience member had the balls to ask him about Half-Life 3.

On a similar note, UK studio nDreams talked about developing real games - as opposed to tech demos - in virtual reality and the fascinating challenges that arise. They also showed some of their distinctly Valve-ish VR adventure, The Assembly.

Earlier in the day, The Creative Assembly's Al Bickham - formerly, and all too briefly, a Eurogamer contributor - showed some tasty live gameplay from the studio's licensed strategy behemoth, Total War: Warhammer.

And finally, Dominic Matthews from Ninja Theory gave a revealing update on the studio's attempt to make a "AAA indie" action game, Hellblade.

If you can't make it to Birmingham, you can watch all the EGX developer sessions live on the EGX YouTube channel. Tomorrow's sessions are as follows (the 2pm Star Wars: Battlefront session has unfortunately been cancelled):

  • 1pm: PlayStation VR
  • 3pm: Homefront: The Revolution
  • 4pm: Elite: Dangerous
  • 5pm: Total War: Arena

And there's more to come later in the week, including me in conversation with Sony's Shuhei Yoshida at 1pm on Saturday.
