Watch: How much space does the HTC Vive actually need?

You might want to sit down.

The HTC Vive is an incredible thing to play around with. It just is. I don't know if it's the future of video games, but I do like it an awful lot. However, there are undeniably some hurdles to jump over when it comes to virtual reality. For starters, the HTC Vive will set you back a tidy £689 if you're pre-ordering and even then, it requires a fair ol' PC to run it comfortably.

So it's expensive, yes. You'll also need a good amount of space to set this thing up - the Vive's instructions recommend at least 2m x 1.5m, but that really is the bare minimum. Join me in the video below as I set up our own HTC Vive Pre and take a look at how much space it requires. Also I move a sofa all on my own, which is quite impressive.
