Valkyrie Profile DS out in spring

Room on my Norse for two. Screens.

Square Enix has announced that Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume for DS will be released in Europe in the spring.

The latest instalment in tri-Ace's Norse RPG series is an isometric effort in which players coordinate their party to attack enemies en masse, and where specific formations increase the build-up of a specials gauge and confer other benefits.

It puts you in the role of Wylfred, who isn't very pleased with Lenneth Valkyrie, who turned his dad Thyodor into an Einherjar, so sets off to duff him up with a bit of help from Hel, the Queen of Niflheim, and the Goddess's Feather.

If that sounds impenetrable to you then you might want to read our review of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for the PSP, a conversion of the late-'90s PSone release, to see why we rather like the whole mess.

Covenant of the Plume will be out here in spring, and has already been marked down for a 17th March release in the US following its launch in Japan earlier this month.
